What Is Changing

Spain applies MiCA directly. ESMA's list of grandfathering periods shows a 18-month transitional period, so providers that relied on national rules had to hold a MiCA authorisation by 1 July 2026. ESMA's Article 93 list names CNMV (CASPs) · Banco de España (ARTs/EMTs) as competent authority for crypto-asset service providers.

The CNMV confirms that the Spanish transitional period ended on 1 July 2026. It applied to firms registered with the Banco de España (Law 10/2010 AML register) on 30 December 2024. Since then only CNMV-authorised providers, or providers authorised in another EU state, may operate in Spain.

The figures below count entries in ESMA's interim MiCA register (CASPS.csv) with Spain as home member state, and entries passporting services into Spain. They are recalculated on every build.
