What Is Changing
Austria applies MiCA directly. ESMA's list of grandfathering periods shows a 12-month transitional period, so providers that relied on national rules had to hold a MiCA authorisation by 30 December 2025. ESMA's Article 93 list names Finanzmarktaufsicht (FMA) as competent authority for crypto-asset service providers.
The figures below count entries in ESMA's interim MiCA register (CASPS.csv) with Austria as home member state, and entries passporting services into Austria. They are recalculated on every build.
ESMA Interim MiCA Register: Entries by Home Member State
- 379 entries (376 unique LEIs) in ESMA's CASP register
- 12 entries with Austria as home member state
- 191 entries list Austria among the countries where services are provided
