14 Crypto Platforms Are Registered in Canada. Binance, Bybit and OKX Are Not Among Them
Coinbase, Kraken, Crypto.com, Wealthsimple and the rest of the OSC's list, the 12 platforms that dropped off it, and what the categories mean.
The short version: 14 crypto asset trading platforms are registered to serve investors in Ontario, according to the Ontario Securities Commission's list updated 15 Oct 2026 (OSC). They include Coinbase, Kraken, Crypto.com, Wealthsimple, Coinsquare (Bitbuy), Shakepay, Newton, Ndax. Binance, Bybit, OKX, KuCoin are not on the list.
What the Categories Mean
7 platforms are registered as investment dealers and 6 as restricted dealers; Fidelity Digital Asset Services is an exempt marketplace and clearing agency. Each operates under exemptive relief with terms and conditions set out in the decisions the OSC links. Some decisions are limited to certain provinces, such as Cybrid's (Ontario only).
Platforms That Dropped Off
The OSC lists 12 platforms that are no longer registered in Ontario: Gemini, Bitvo, ByteX, CatalX, Coinberry, CoinSmart, DigiFinex, Hibit, Uphold, VirgoCX. Reasons it gives include an expired pre-registration undertaking, an acquisition (Bitvo, Coinberry and CoinSmart by Bitbuy; Bitbuy by Coinsquare), and VirgoCX's registration being suspended effective 24 November 2025. For Gemini it notes that it no longer offers services to retail clients in Canada.
