What Is Changing
Belgium applies MiCA directly. ESMA's list of grandfathering periods shows a 18-month transitional period, so providers that relied on national rules had to hold a MiCA authorisation by 1 July 2026. ESMA's Article 93 list names FSMA / National Bank of Belgium (NBB) as competent authority for crypto-asset service providers.
The figures below count entries in ESMA's interim MiCA register (CASPS.csv) with Belgium as home member state, and entries passporting services into Belgium. They are recalculated on every build.
ESMA Interim MiCA Register: Entries by Home Member State
- 379 entries (376 unique LEIs) in ESMA's CASP register
- 2 entries with Belgium as home member state
- 201 entries list Belgium among the countries where services are provided
