Methodology · Australia
How the Australia tracker is built. Data is official and read on every build.
Sources
- AUSTRAC Virtual Asset Service Provider Register: we query the public search once per tracked name (the same search the page offers) and record legal name, trading names, ABN/ACN/ARBN, address and whether conditions are shown.
- ASIC media releases on the crypto court cases listed on the cases page; each release is re-read on every build.
- ASIC roadmap and the Act for the Digital Assets Framework dates.
Source Hierarchy
- official AUSTRAC, ASIC, Federal Register of Legislation.
- company none used.
- press · secondary none used.
Matching
An entry is attached to a tracked name only when the search term appears as a whole word in the legal or a trading name on the register. We do not infer group links. The register search returns at most 200 results per query and does not publish a total, so this tracker does not count all registered providers.
Labels
- On AUSTRAC VASP register: at least one matching entry.
- No entry under this name: no match for the terms shown on the firm's page.
- ASIC court action on record: the firm is named in a tracked ASIC release.
Limits
- AUSTRAC's own website could not be read from our servers; AUSTRAC news is not used.
- ASIC AFS licences are not checked yet.
- Only the listed ASIC releases are tracked.
